BlueWave Strategies LLC, the consulting arm of BlueWave Capital, was founded in 2002. In March 2010, BlueWave Strategies was sold to TRC Companies Inc. (NYSE:TRR), a national environmental consulting and engineering firm. BlueWave Capital remains a separately owned and managed entity, but works closely with TRC to leverage their national network of professionals for project engineering, construction, bonding and advisory services.
BlueWave Capital's professionals have benefitted greatly from their experience with BlueWave Strategies. Over its seven years BlueWave Strategies served as an advisor on a wide range of environmentally complex projects, with a focus on real estate development and renewable energy ventures. The team's extensive knowledge of environmental and energy technologies, law, regulation, and economics, combined with strong professional relationships with key political, regulatory, business, and non-profit leaders, helped BlueWave's clients achieve significant economic returns and environmental results on a diverse array of ventures.

BlueWave found that getting sustainable design "right" is not just a matter of checking off points on a checklist - the "art" of sustainable design involves understanding a complicated set of opportunities and challenges and crafting a strategy that makes financial, environmental and regulatory sense for each individual project. This is where BlueWave added the most value to its projects: by reducing environmental costs, coordinating environmental commitments with project timelines, and expediting the permitting process.
